Rail passengers 400 bill for Lostock to Farnworth journey

A RAIL passenger who failed to pay for a £3.60 ticket for a journey from Lostock to Farnworth has been slapped with a £407.60 bill.

Manchester magistrates heard how Liam Corby, aged 30, of Cemetery Road, Bolton, made the journey from Lostock on April 20, but did not produce a ticket when he arrived at Farnworth.

The court heard that he failed to pay the fare and ignored reminder letters and so magistrates found him guilty.

He was fined £220 plus £184 in costs and must pay Northern Rail £3.60 in compensation.
